Rovinj Photodays 2019 Changes to the Competition

Dear photography friends,

we’re preparing the twelfth edition of the Rovinj Photodays International Photography Festival. Over the past twelve years, we have grown steadily and have continuously beaten our own records in the number of applications and the number of countries applying (for example, just last year, we received 12,000 photos from 47 countries around the world). Your enthusiasm and the steady increase in the number of applications have led to the need for change in the current selection process. In addition, the fact that all the winning works of the final exhibition go to the permanent collection of the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb imposes an imperative of responsibility towards the contemporary photography scene that the festival represents. We trust that all the winning photographers are proud to have their works be dealt with by institution such as the Museum of Arts and Crafts.

In order to raise the quality and optimize the overall concept of the festival, we are introducing changes in the competition process, the reward system and ultimately the festival program itself. Our wish is to advance, to turn the quantity into quality and to provide our contestants with additional support through the Grand Prix prize.
